CONDITIONS & OUTCOMES

Fine Lines, Wrinkles & Skin Firmness

Lines that stay when your face relaxes, skin that has lost its firmness, a softer jawline. At MyAesthetics, our doctors combine treatments that relax expression lines with ones that rebuild collagen, for results that still look like you.

ABOUT LINES & FIRMNESS

Why does skin lose firmness?

As we age, collagen production slows down, leading to lost volume, fine lines and skin that doesn’t bounce back. Repeated expressions also deepen lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes.

We help with: fine lines, wrinkles, forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, deep smile lines, jowls, sagging skin and skin laxity, crepey or thinning skin, loss of collagen, elasticity and volume, facial ageing, facial weight loss including after GLP-1 medication, facial slimming and jaw clenching.

Expression lines

Forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet.

Loss of firmness

Sagging, crepey or thinning skin.

Volume loss

Hollowing with age or weight loss, including GLP-1.

Jowls & smile lines

A softer jawline and deeper folds.

Tap a concern to see what it is, what causes it and how our doctors treat it. Every plan starts with a consultation, so we can recommend what will work for your face.

Crow's feetFine lines at the outer corners of the eyes+

What it is

Lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes, often called laughter lines. They usually start in your 30s or 40s as expression lines and, over time, stay visible even when your face is relaxed.

What causes it

The skin around the eyes is thin and loses collagen early. Smiling and squinting fold it thousands of times a day, and sun exposure, smoking and genetics speed the process up.

How we treat it

Anti-wrinkle injections soften lines caused by movement. Profhilo and microneedling improve the quality and firmness of the skin around the eyes.

Forehead & frown linesLines across the forehead and between the brows+

What it is

Horizontal lines across the forehead and vertical "11s" between the eyebrows. They can make you look tired, cross or older than you feel, and tend to become permanent over time.

What causes it

Raising and frowning the brows creates these lines, and falling collagen and elastin stop the skin springing back. Sun damage, smoking and genetics all play a part.

How we treat it

Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles behind these lines. For deeper, etched-in lines, we add microneedling or polynucleotides to rebuild the skin.

Lip linesFine vertical lines around the mouth+

What it is

Fine vertical creases above and around the lips, sometimes called smoker's lines. They can make lipstick bleed and the mouth look older.

What causes it

They usually appear after 30 as collagen and elastin decline. Repeated movements like pursing, smiling and drinking through straws deepen them, along with sun exposure and smoking.

How we treat it

A soft dermal filler smooths the lines and supports the lip border. Polynucleotides improve skin texture, and a small amount of anti-wrinkle treatment can soften lines from movement.

Nose to mouth linesDeep smile lines from nose to mouth+

What it is

The creases that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, also called nasolabial folds. They deepen with age and can make the lower face look heavier.

What causes it

Collagen loss and the gradual descent of the cheek fat pads. People with naturally fuller cheeks can notice them earlier.

How we treat it

We often restore support in the cheeks first, which lifts the fold, then soften what remains with filler. Profhilo and skin boosters improve the skin itself.

Marionette linesLines from the mouth corners to the chin+

What it is

Lines running down from the corners of the mouth towards the chin, often with a downturned mouth. They can make you look sad or tired when you are not.

What causes it

Loss of collagen and volume, weakening support in the lower face, and muscles that pull the corners of the mouth down over time.

How we treat it

Filler replaces lost volume and supports the corners of the mouth. Anti-wrinkle treatment can relax the muscle pulling the corners down, for a gentle lift.

JowlsSagging along the jawline+

What it is

Loose skin and tissue gathering below the jawline, softening its definition and giving the lower face a heavier, downturned look.

What causes it

With age the skin loses collagen and elasticity, facial fat shifts downwards and the supporting structures weaken. Genetics and weight changes also play a part.

How we treat it

We take a full-face approach: restoring support in the cheeks and adding definition to the chin and jawline with filler, then rebuilding collagen with Sculptra for longer-lasting firmness.

Sagging & loose skinSkin that has lost its firmness and lift+

What it is

Laxity around the eyes, midface and lower face. Cheeks can flatten, eyes can look hooded and the jawline loses definition, leaving you looking tired.

What causes it

From our mid-twenties, collagen falls by around 1 to 1.5% a year, and faster during menopause. Sun damage, smoking and weight changes add to it.

How we treat it

Sculptra rebuilds collagen gradually, Profhilo improves firmness and elasticity, and filler restores structure where volume has been lost.

Crepey or thinning skinThin, fragile skin with fine creasing+

What it is

Skin that looks thin and finely creased, like tissue paper, often around the eyes, cheeks and neck.

What causes it

Falling collagen, elastin and hydration, often sped up by sun damage and hormonal changes.

How we treat it

Profhilo and skin boosters deeply hydrate and improve elasticity. Polynucleotides help repair and thicken delicate areas, including under the eyes.

Facial volume loss after weight lossHollowing after weight loss, including GLP-1+

What it is

Hollow cheeks and temples and looser skin after losing weight, including weight loss with GLP-1 medication. It can make the face look older or more tired.

What causes it

Losing fat from the face removes the support under the skin, and skin that has lost elasticity cannot tighten to match.

How we treat it

Sculptra gradually rebuilds structure, filler restores volume where it is needed, and Profhilo improves skin quality so the result looks natural.

Jaw clenching & wide jawTeeth grinding and a square lower face+

What it is

A wide or square lower face, often linked to clenching or grinding the teeth. It can also cause jaw tension and headaches.

What causes it

Genetics play a part, and regular clenching or grinding makes the masseter muscles at the back of the jaw grow larger over time.

How we treat it

Anti-wrinkle treatment into the masseter muscles relaxes them, easing clenching and slimming the jaw over a few weeks. Filler in the chin and cheeks can then rebalance the face.
